Settle the steakhouse debates once and for all. In this flavor-packed class, we dive into what really makes a great steak—from grading and cuts to the magic of live fire.

We’ll break down the differences between Choice, Prime, and the luxurious Wagyu, using a range of cooking methods. You’ll learn how to cook over charcoal, master the sear in cast iron, and explore the subtle, smoky influence of grapevine grilling. Along the way, we’ll ask the big questions: can technique elevate a Choice steak to rival Prime? Which method delivers the ultimate crust and depth of flavor?

Our tasting lineup explores a butcher’s case of cuts - Chuck, Ribeye, T-Bone, Porterhouse, Flank, Hanger, Skirt, Flat Iron, Filet, and even a “Secret Steak” you’ll want to add to your regular rotation. You’ll learn how each cut behaves, how to cook it properly, and when to choose one over the other.

No steakhouse experience is complete without the sides. We’ll show you how to prepare crispy Onion Rings, a show-stopping Hasselback Potato, Asparagus with silky Béarnaise Sauce, and a classic Caesar Salad, the perfect companions to your perfectly cooked steaks.

Held annually in our Catering Kitchen in Ballard’s Brewery District, this class is a celebration of fire, flavor, and Father’s Day. Whether you’re bringing Dad or just channeling your inner grill master, expect a fun, delicious evening filled with expert tips, and plenty of steak.

Guests will receive a glass of wine or beer upon arrival. Our team will be tray passing Cheesy Crab Gougères for you to nibble before the class started. You will also receive substantial tastes of the following menu items.

We would like to remind you all that this class will be held at the Ballard Catering Kitchen and not at the Hot Stove Society location inside Hotel Andra.

Ticket price is per 1 person. If you register separately from the person(s) with whom you are attending, please let us know in advance so we can make sure we seat you with your party.

Refund policy: Once a ticket is purchased it is non-refundable and non-transferable. The ownership, however, is yours and you may send someone else in your stead.
