A Journey Through Persian Cuisine with Farah Shirazi

2000 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121

Celebrate the vibrant flavors and traditions of the Persian New Year, with a cooking demonstration that brings centuries of culinary heritage to life lovingly prepared by Farah Shirazi with the assistance of her daughters. Born in the storied city of Shiraz — Farah carries with her the flavors and traditions of a place where hospitality is an art form and every meal tells a story. For over forty years, she has shared the tastes of her homeland with friends and family: the perfume of saffron, the tang of pomegranate, the warmth of slow-simmered stews, and the golden crunch of tahdig that brings everyone to the table.

In this class, Farah and her daughters invite you to share a traditional Persian New Year celebration with a flavor-packed meal that honors renewal, spring, and gathering around the table. Along the way, you’ll explore the cultural meaning behind each dish—from the symbolism of herbs to the role of sweets in bringing sweetness to the year ahead. Perfect for cooks of all levels who want to expand their knowledge of global cuisine, celebrate Persian culture, or simply enjoy a delicious seasonal meal.

Guests will be greeted with a feta herb platter that includes Barbari bread, feta cheese, soaked walnuts, and radishes to enjoy while watching the demonstration.
