Learn to make sushi like a pro

If you love sushi, you probably eat in sushi restaurants on a regular basis. But did you know that you can make your own picture perfect and delicious sushi at home?

Learn how to roll and press sushi in this hands-on class led by Hot Stove Instructor Jamie Freedman and her ‘Chef de Partie’ Doug Watkins.

You’ll watch Jamie and Doug demo, and you’ll learn how to properly slice avocado, slice vegetables, and slice and marinate rockfish. The Hot Stove team will lay out everything you need, such as shime saba, rockfish, cucumbers, carrots, avocado, ocean salad, nori, wasabi, and pickled ginger. Then you’ll roll up your sleeves and have fun making your own sushi, hands-on.  Enjoy eating all the sushi you make.

A glass of wine or beer is included.

Welcome Appetizer:

  • Miso soup and fried kimchi

What You’ll Learn:


  • How to make different styles of sushi, using temaki, maki, and battera
  • How to make battera with shime saba

Demo and Hands-on:

  • Avocado slicing
  • Rockfish slicing and marinating
  • Vegetable slicing
  • Make your own sushi in a variety of styles and eat what you make
