Nothing beats a wintry bowl of soup to warm you from the inside out, but doesn’t a luscious, steaming bowl of a seafood soup, chowder or stew sound even better?

Chef Instructor Bridget Charters will show you how to make Cioppino- the classic Italian-American fisherman’s soup or stew that originated in San Francisco (and, of course, it’s closely related to regional Italian fish soups and stews).  Cioppino has a fragrant tomato and bell pepper base, and it’s always made with shrimp and cracked whole Dungeness crab, but may also contain clams and other seafood.

Bridget will also show you how to make a Spanish inspired seafood stew with mussels, chorizo, and saffron.

In addition, you’ll also learn how to make a rich Scandinavian seafood chowder with salmon, cod, and potatoes, all beautifully perfumed with dill. This chowder has a wonderful aromatic base, and you add the seafood when you are ready to finish and serve.   Bridget is going to work with you on your knife skills to make perfect cuts for all the ingredients, and she will work with you on timing and finishing.

As you watch Bridget demo, you’ll enjoy substantial tastes of each dish, and you’ll get to make the salmon cod chowder hands-on in teams of two. We’ll pack up the chowder you make so you can take it home.

A glass of wine or beer is included.
