Lunch Club- Celebrating Julia Child

Lunch Club- Celebrating Julia Child

Happy Birthday, Julia!

Tired of the same-old, same old?  Try thinking about lunch in a whole new way and sign up for Lunch Club!  In the same hour that you usually spend chomping down a sandwich while you look at your phone, you can be seated at Hot Stove Society while Chef Instructor Bridget Charters cooks lunch for you!

For this very special lunch club, Bridget has created a menu that’s an homage to our favorite culinary icon, Julia Child, on the date of her birthday.  Julia Child was born 107 years ago on August 15, 1912. What better way to celebrate the wonderful way that Julia brought sophisticated French cooking into American homes than by treating yourself to this lovely and delicious French lunch?  Better yet, find a buddy and make it a lunch date!

Welcome drink:

  • A glass of Champagne to toast Julia!

What You’ll Learn and Eat: (Demo only)

  • Salade composée a la Julia- Bridget will use the best of summer’s greens and vegetables to create a salad in the French style.  Expect ripe tomatoes, colorful peppers, and more, especially from our own Prosser Farm.  Some vegetables may be blanched, roasted, grilled or marinated. Bridget will show you how to arrange all the components to beautifully compose a summer salad, and she’ll show you how to make a real French vinaigrette.
  • Filet de saumon poché au vin blanc a la ravigote- Poached wild salmon with a classic sauce of capers, cornichons and tarragon.
  • Charlotte aux peches-  Luscious summer peaches are cooked down almost to a jam with cinnamon and sugar. Then this peach ‘jam’ is packed into molds lined with buttered brioche, baked until golden brown, and unmolded. This is a classic French dessert well worthy of Julia’s birthday party!
