Hands-on Kimchi

Hands-on Kimchi

Make and Take

Kimchi is a staple in Korean cuisine.  Made from salted and fermented vegetables (most commonly cabbage and daikon radish) and a variety of seasonings, kimchi is salty, spicy, and funky in a wonderful way. Kimchi is surging in popularity right now, and folks are having fun adding it to scrambled eggs, fried  rice, noodle bowls, meat dishes and so much more.

Hot Stove Instructor Jamie Freedman wants to show you how doable it is to make your own kimchi from scratch.

In this class you will learn about the pickling process, the different styles of kimchi, how to store kimchi for pickling, all the different varieties of kimchi, and the many different ways to use kimchi.

The fun begins when you make your own cabbage and daikon radish kimchi, hands-on, adding your own special touches of flavors and seasonings.  You’ll also get to make Korean kimchi pancakes, hands-on, and you’ll eat your pancakes while your kimchi is resting. Then finish up the kimchi process and we’ll provide you with a vessel to take home what you make.
