Japanese potstickers!

Crisp and golden brown on the outside, juicy and savory on the inside, gyoza are pan-fried Japanese dumplings filled with ground pork and vegetables. Hot Stove Instructor Jamie Freedman will teach you everything you need to know to make your own gyoza at home, and you’ll discover what makes gyoza so special.

We’ll provide finished dough for you to work with to make your own gyoza.  You’ll make the filling and  you’ll shape, form and cook gyoza, hands-on.  Enjoy eating your gyoza in class, along with gyoza sauce that we’ll provide.  If you don’t eat all your gyoza in class, we’ll pack them up for you to take home.

A glass of wine or beer is included.

What You’ll Learn and Eat:

  • Welcome taste (no demo): Mizuna and Pear Salad


  • Gyoza with Salted Cabbage, Nira, and Pork Filling (note: nira are Japanese garlic chives)
  • Learn about the dumpling dough
  • How to sheet the dough
  • How to make the filling
  • Learn two different techniques for folding gyoza- by hand and by press/mold
  • How to properly pan-fry gyoza

Demo and Hands-on:

  • Make pork and salted cabbage filling
  • Form and cook gyoza working in teams of two (Hot Stove will provide finished dough for you)
  • Personalize gyoza sauce with your choice of herbs, spices, ginger, and garlic
  • Enjoy eating the gyoza that you made yourself!
