Does your kid love to get into the kitchen and cook? Is he or she fascinated by restaurants, cooking shows, and all those ‘foodie’ ingredients on display at the supermarket? Here's the chance to sign up your Junior Chef for a 5-day 'camp' at the Hot Stove Society!

Your aspiring chefs, ages 10 to 15, are more than ready to learn real cooking skills and techniques that will reward them with a heightened appreciation of food, a sense of accomplishment, and a lifetime of pleasure.

Junior Chef Camp includes 5 days, Monday July 9 through Friday July 13.  Each 5-hour day, from 9am to 2pm, includes both breakfast and lunch. The kids will be taught by our talented Chef Instructor Bridget Charters who has decades of experience teaching culinary school.  Classes include plenty of hands-on cooking, and we’ll pack up some of the delicious food the Junior Chefs make each day, so they can take it home and proudly share the bounty with the whole family.

Monday, Day 1:

  • Breakfast
  • Hands-on: Dumpling Workshop- Is anything more fun to make than dumplings? Global dumplings include potstickers, empanadas, and pierogi- hand shaped and pinched or pleated with love!
  • Lunch
  • Hands-on: Yeast breads from scratch- make dough, shape and bake focaccia, pretzel loaf, and rustic bread- nothing beats the satisfaction of a loaf of freshly baked bread you made yourself!

Tuesday, Day 2:

  • Breakfast
  • Hands-on: Learn to be a breakfast Chef! Make French crepes, American pancakes, popovers, spectacular Dutch babies, and eggs every which way!
  • Lunch
  • Hands-on: Taco Tuesday! Become a Masa Master! Corn and flour tortillas from scratch, loads of fresh salsas and guacamole galore, searing and grilling chicken thighs, and how to assemble tacos. Also learn how to make over-the-top Cantina Leña nachos with ooey gooey cheese sauce!

Wednesday, Day 3:

  • Breakfast
  • Hands-on: Learn to make pizza just like the pros at our pizza restaurant, Serious Pie! Make dough, stretch, shape, and top your own pizza with a choice of toppings.
  • Lunch
  • Hands-on: Time for dessert! Make pastry dough, roll and shape pie shells, make filling and bake scrumptious pies and golden topped, bubbling fruit crisps.

Thursday, Day 4: 

  • Breakfast
  • Hands-on: Who doesn't love pasta? Make fresh pasta dough from scratch, roll, cut and shape fresh pasta. Also learn how to cook dry pasta and make pasta sauces like pesto, marinara, and creamy sauces
  • Lunch
  • Hands-on: Make a cake from scratch, frost and decorate, then take your glorious creation home with you!

Friday, Day 5:

  • Breakfast
  • Hands-on: Learn how to make sushi at home! How to make perfect sushi rice, how to make the fillings such as tuna and katsu chicken, how to roll sushi, make sauces and pickles.
  • Lunch
  • Hands-on: Learn to make French pâte à choux for light as a feather puffs! You’ll make savory gougères (cheese puffs), deep fried and sugared Mexican churros (similar to doughnuts), and filled and glazed cream puffs and eclairs.
