Tequila vs Mezcal

The Hot Stove society welcomes Angela Buck as instructor of this cocktail class.  Angela, with 15+ years of bartending experience and 20 years in the restaurant industry, is also BarSmarts Advanced Certified and took her exam from the one and only David Wondrich, the celebrated cocktail historian and author.

Angela will be joined by expert Matt Harvey.  Angela and Matt will do a run down on the different Agave plants and the places where Tequila and Mezcal are distilled and produced.  Angela will demo three exciting cocktails crafted from Mezcal and Tequila and you will get to taste small pours of all three. Each cocktail will be paired with a substantial taste of delightful Mexican-inspired food prepared by the Hot Stove team.

What You’ll Learn and Taste: (Cocktail demo, no food demo)

  • La Dama Verde cocktail (Mezcal, Agave syrup, Ancho Reyes Verde Liqueur) Paired with a Jicama Radish and Cucumber Salad with Prickly Pear and Mint Crema
  • El Guapo cocktail (Reposado Tequila, Amontillado sherry, Drambuie) Paired with Oyster Mushroom “Al Pastor” Taco with Charred Pineapple, White Onion, and Cilantro
  • La Naranja Quemado cocktail (Mezcal, Reposado Tequila, Sweet Vermouth, Aperol, Campari) Paired with Cantina Leña Cadillac Nachos with Carnitas, Fundito, Guacamole, and Pickled Onions
