Does your kid love to get into the kitchen and cook? Is he or she fascinated by restaurants, cooking shows, and all those ‘foodie’ ingredients on display at the supermarket? Then you’ll want to sign up your Junior Chef for this 5-day series at the Hot Stove Society!

Junior Chef Camp is ideal for ages 10 to 13. Your aspiring chefs are more than ready to learn real cooking skills and techniques that will reward them with a lifetime of pleasure, fun, a heightened appreciation of food, and a sense of accomplishment.

Junior Chef Camp includes 5 days, Monday July 22 through Friday July 26.  Each 5-hour day, from 9am to 2pm, includes both breakfast and lunch. The kids will be taught by our talented Chef Instructor Bridget Charters who has decades of experience teaching culinary school.  Classes include plenty of hands-on cooking, and every day we’ll pack up lots of goodies for the Junior Chefs to take home, so they can show off and proudly share what they learned to make in class with the whole family

What Your Junior Chef Will Learn During the 5-day Camp:

Expect Lots of Hands-On and Lots of Food to Take-Home!

Pasta from Scratch:

  • Flour + egg dough and flour + water dough
  • Fettuccini, Pappardelle, Lasagna, Trofie, Pici
  • Make pesto and fresh tomato sauce
  • Kids make handmade pasta, sauces, and fresh salad for lunch
  • Make ragu (and practice knife skills) and make bechamel
  • Take home lasagna for the family
  • Tiramisu

Sushi and More:

  • Practice knife skills on veggies for sushi fillings
  • How to prepare rice
  • Roast salmon and veggie fillings for sushi
  • Make your own marinade for chicken
  • Make and take fried rice dinner for the family

Dumpling Party:

  • Dumpling dough making
  • Filling and shaping dumplings
  • Bing
  • Bao
  • Potstickers

Taco Tuesday:

  • Corn tortillas
  • Pico de Gallo (salsa), guacamole, slaw, roasted tomatillo salsa
  • Shrimp tacos and salsas
  • Cantina Leña charred broccoli salad
  • Make and take chilaquiles for the family

Baking and Pastries:

  • Savory quick breads (picnic bread, savory biscuits)
